The One Thing You Must Do Every Morning

If you’re looking for glorified fairy dust to spring you out of bed in the morning, this isn’t for you.

However, if you’re looking for a new tip, to get your day started the right way, keep reading.

Everyone talks about the morning routine. And sure, a solid morning routine is nice, but I still believe the pre-morning routine is your best bet for a great morning.

I also believe what happens in your sheets (get your mind out of the gutter) before your feet hit the ground is the next best thing.

Why?

Because that’s where the day starts.

This small trick has helped start my morning on the right foot, many times.

You’ll combine these two small and forgotten movements to create a good morning psychological boost.

When we get older, we tend to take life WAY too seriously.

We get brainwashed into thinking and following models that are outside of our unique abilities. Outside of our unique interests. Outside of our passions.

So what do we do? We become grumpy. We smile less.

But smiling, playing, and having fun, is what makes us human. Our brains developed on the unique skill of storytelling.

I love to smile, to laugh, and to mess around. But I’ve found myself at times becoming too tense, too rigid, too serious.

How are you supposed to wake up and start your day the right way with this mindset?

You’re not.

So, I stumbled upon an article, called “The Untapped Power Of Smiling.

In it, the author writes…

“A study conducted in the UK (using an electromagnetic brain scan machine and heart-rate monitor to create "mood-boosting values" for various stimuli), British researchers found that one smile can provide the same level of brain stimulation as up to 2,000 chocolate bars; they also found that smiling can be as stimulating as receiving up to 16,000 Pounds Sterling in cash.”

I want to wake up with 2,000 chocolate bars (90% dark for clarity) in my mouth, but it’s simpler than that.

If you wake up with a smile and genuinely think of something that makes you happy and/or laugh, that starts your day really well.

You’re instantly rewiring your brain as soon as you wake up.

But before we get into the recipe, we need to talk about why…

Breathing is vastly underrated by 99% of the population, yet we die without doing it.

You may have noticed my 99% statistic, and if you thought it, you’re right, I pulled it straight out of my ass.

But think about it. How often do you think about breathing?

Not very often!

Yet, when you’re stressed, and you breathe, studies have shown it lowers your heart rate and gets you thinking more clearly.

You calm down.

What if you started your day, with a few deep breaths- to get oxygen into your lungs, to wake up your mind, and to slow the desire to spring out of bed and scream at your alarm clock.

You start the day slow, with a few intentional breaths.

Wouldn’t that be amazing? I agree, and it’s simple.

This is the recipe we’re going to create.

Combine your smile with a few intentional breaths and start your day the right way.

That’s it!

As your alarm clock goes off and you swear death by a thousand swords to the noise, you’ll do this before you do anything else.

As you begin to wake, you’ll immediately start to smile and think about something that makes you happy, something that you're grateful for or even, something funny.

As you smile (try not to fake it), you’ll take five, long deep breaths. A five-second inhale through your nose, a five-second hold, and a five-second exhale through your mouth.

As you breathe, keep smiling.

Do that for a week, and message me on Facebook and tell me if it helped start your day the right way.

It’s a small step to a great morning, you deserve it.
