You sit at your desk slaving over the keyboard. Days pass, your body aches but who cares because you’re getting stuff done.

That’s the goal of course. Right?

Wrong.

Our bodies weren’t created to sit for long periods of time. It’s disastrous to our health, both mentally and physically.

When we sit for prolonged periods of time muscles tighten, posture gets poor and our circulation gets cut off.

This is a recipe for poor energy, poor circulation and poor cognitive function.

Sound like fun?

Welcome to the stand up desk era

You’re no stranger to the news on the recent popularity of stand up desks.

Standing desks are to get you up off your butt and increase circulation.

But their’s one problem.

Which one is best for you. There are various types on the market. From the expensive, to the cheap. The large to the small.

It’s difficult to decide which one to try. I recently bought the tall Speedy Stand Up Desk.

Here’s my take on it.

The Good

The Speedy Stand Up Desk is small, compact and transportable. You can take it to the office, cubicle, or home.

It’s doesn’t really matter what desk you’re using, this entry-level standing desk can give you a feel for what the hype is all about.

It’s a reasonable price so you can keep one at home and one at work.

If you’re not using it, it can easily be put on the floor or in the closet.

There’s no breaking it down or hassle moving it.

The price and size make this incredibly appealing.

The Bad

If you’re using a standard PC you’ll have to raise your monitors.

I use a monitor stand so it works for me. If you’re using a laptop then there’s no more tools needed for you.

The extra cost is offset because you can still use the monitor stand while you sit. You should always be looking straight.

The monitor stand is used while your on the stand up desk and helps your posture while sitting.

The Ugly

This product isn’t built with high quality hard wood and it’s not the most eye appealing sitting on a desk.

It’s presswood and if you drop, kick, or throw it, it will have issues from then on.

This is why I recommend buying one for home and one for the office. It limits having to transport it.

Since I’ve been using it it’s always been sturdy and solid.

Just know before you go and by this that it’s not made with hardwood, metal or any other hard, sturdy substance.

By taking action to correct your posture you’ll not only feel better but you’ll look and act better. [TWEET THIS]

Oh and did I mention you’ll also be more productive?

Stand up desks  are a great tool to upgrade yourself and your business.

P.S. Don’t forget to raise your monitors if you have a standard monitor and PC set up.

    Nate,

Thanks for the review! I love the idea of a stand-up desk but am looking into a desk built for it. They are expensive and this is a great alternative. Keep up the excellent articles!

Thank you for stopping by and commenting Vaughn. Yea. they are expensive. I like the Focal but it’s so pricey especially if you don’t know what you want. This one is a nice entry point.

      Thanks for the kind words!

Have you checked out the Stand Steady desk http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C344VMY? It costs a little bit more, but the height adjusts which a is pretty important feature.

      Hi Dayna.

I do like the adjustable height idea however I like the look of the Speedy Stand up desk more. The all black is classy for such a tacky looking item and they come in various colors which blends in with many desks.

It would be pretty cool if the Stand Steady desk was collapsible in just a couple clicks.

      Thanks for sharing.
